Borland C++ 5.0 ObjectScripting Programmer's Guide

With ObjectScripting, you can customize the Borland C++ IDE programatically using built-in classes and a scripting language called cScript, a language much like C++. cScript supports classes, late binding, objectspecific method overriding, and dynamic variable typing. Using cScript requires C++ or other object-oriented language experience. Through an object called IDEApplication, which is instantiated when Borland C++ first starts up, you can access most parts of the IDE, including the Editor, the debugger, the keyboard, and the Project Manager. You can customize them to suit you, as well as add your own new features.

Borland Turbo Assembler 5.0 User's Guide

Welcome to Borland's Turbo Assembler,® a multi-pass assembler with forwardreference resolution, assembly speeds of up to 48,000 lines per minute (on an IBM PS/2 model 60), Microsoft Macro Assembler (MASM) compatibility, and an optional Ideal mode extended syntax. Whether you're a novice or an experienced programmer, you'll appreciate these features and others we've provided to make programming in assembly language easier. Here are the highlights-we'll describe them in detail later: • Object-oriented programming capabilities • 32-bit model and stack frame support • Full 386, i486, and Pentium support • Simplified segmentation directives • Table support • Enumerations • Smart flag instructions • Fast immediate multiply operation • Multiline definition support • VERSION specification directive • Nested directives • Quirks mode to emulate MASM • Full source debugging output • Cross-reference utility (TCREF) • Configuration and command files • File converter utility (converts C .h files to TASM .ash files) • Procedure prototyping and argument checking capabilities • Alias support • Windows 95 flat thunking support Turho Assembler is a powerful command-line assembler that takes your source (.ASM) files and produces object (.OBD modules. You then use TLINK.EXE, Borland's highspeed linker program, to link your object modules and create executable (.EXE) files.

Paradox for Windows 1.0

The first Windows version of the Borland Paradox for DOS. Paradox for Windows is a distinctly different product from Paradox for DOS, and was produced by a different team of programmers. Although key features of the DOS product, the QBE and the database engine, were ports keeping the DOS code, there was a major break in compatibility from PAL to ObjectPAL and in the shift to a GUI design metaphor for Forms and Reports. The ObjectPAL changes were controversial but forced since PAL was based on keystroke recording actions that had no equivalent in Windows. An object-based language based on ideas from Hypercard was used in place of keystroke recording. The Forms and Reports designers used device independent scaling including ability to work in zoomed mode for detailed layout. The mouse right-click was used for access to Forms and Reports properties, inspired by the Xerox Alto and Smalltalk, in a way now almost universal to Windows programs. The ObjectPAL was (like Hypercard) associated with the visual objects - also revealed by right click. Property inspection and layout tools could be "pinned up" to stay on screen, an idea borrowed from the NeXT and now fairly widely adopted in Windows.

Turbo C 2.0 Reference Guide

This is the second volume of documentation in the Turbo C package. This volume, the Turbo C Reference Guide, contains definitions of all the Turbo C library routines, common variables, and common defined types, along with example program code to illustrate how to use many of these routines, variables, and types. If you are new to C programming, you should first read the other book in your Turbo C package-the Turbo C User's Guide. In that book you'll find instructions on how to install Turbo C on your system, an overview of Turbo C's window and menu system, and tutorial-style chapters designed to get you started programming in Turbo C. The user's guide also summarizes Turbo C's implementation of the C language and discusses some advanced programming techniques. For those of you who are Turbo Pascal and Turbo Prolog programmers, the user's guide provides information to help you integrate your understanding of those languages with your new knowledge of C. You should refer to the UIntroduction" in the User's Guide for information on the Turbo C implementation, a summary of the contents of Volume I, and a short bibliography.

Turbo Pascal 5.5 Object-Oriented Programming Guide

Turbo Pascal 5.5 gives you the power and efficiency of objectoriented programming at turbo speed. In addition to the Turbo Pascal features you have come to rely on, this new version offers you the programming techniques of the future: • both static objects for maximum efficiency and dynamic objects for maximum run-time flexibility • both static and virtual methods • constructors and destructors that create and deallocate objects (which saves programming time and improves readability of your code) • object constants-static object data is initialized automatically • greater speed-Turbo Pascal 5.5 compiles even faster • an improved overlay manager (which lets overlays run faster, with less disk I/O) • enhanced help screens that let you cut and paste examples into your code • an online tutorial to introduce you to Turbo Pasca1's integrated development environment The object-oriented extensions in Turbo Pascal 5.5 were inspired by Larry Tesler's "Object Pascal Report" (Apple, 1985) and Bjarne Stroustrup's "The C++ Programming Language" (1986, AddisonWesley).
