I have been looking for a software that makes my pendrive as read-only so I can use it on an infected machine and I remembered this software used for external media (such as diskettes) and considered it as the solution for it.
Some pendrives come with a mechanical switch to turn it from read/write to read-only but you must be manipulating the device and you may forget to turn it on/off.
