MS-DOS 4.01 4.01

Category: OS
Year: 1988
Description:This is a .ZIP file containing all disk images required for installing MS-DOS 4.01 on a virtual machine, including a blank disk used as "SELECT COPY". Note: During the installation procedure, when it asks to switch out the "INSTALL" disk for the "SELECT COPY" disk, it does this many times and it might seem like there's an error of some sort. Just keep going, keep switching them out, it should get there eventually.

They sell par-shell system example startup disk with out operating system. The one's that sell full systems sell it at more than it originally cost.

VMWare is not able to boot the image, just reboots, again and again.
I also try to transfer the boot files to the hard drive using sys command, and it still does not work, still keeps rebooting.
DOS3.3, DOS5.0, DOS6.22, all works fine , are all bootable.
Is it VMWare's bug or what? Has somebody sovled it?

Not a fake. It's the real thing in English. Somebody changed autoexec.bat to load the spanish keyboard driver at startup and added a file named info.war.
The date of the modified/added files:
22/12/2005 INFO.WAR
25/12/2012 AUTOEXEC.BAT
Contents of info.war:
"Propiedad de TWR Records-Al menos los derechos de la compilaciĆ³n!!!"
which means:
"Property of TWR Records-At least compilation rights!!!"

Keyboard is set to Spanish in AUTOEXEC. Reset with KEYB US,437. Image 1 also contains a file, INFO.WAR, with a Spanish message inside. Appears to be a Spanish WAREZ distribution.
SELECT MENU still errors; however, it does in other 4.01s I've downloaded also, so may not be a problem specific to this set.

When booting under VirtualBox, the SELECT MENU line in AUTOEXEC.BAT errors: "Invalid disk/diskette media. Insert INSTALL diskette in drive A:, then retry".
Also, the keyboard driver appears to be non-US.
