This is indeed excellent software, but the version on this site seems to be missing the necessary fonts, the music notation fonts I mean. This problem can be solved by installing the free Finale NotePad, in my case version 2001. The fonts installed by Finale NotePad are sufficient for Finale 98 to run correctly.

Thanks! I was looking for this for at least a decade. It works fine on XP, I just have to remember how... Don't forget to install the fonts before you start working with it!
