Brief 3.1 is an extremely powerful MS-DOS text editor, particularly when coupled with any Borland development product, such as Turbo Assembler or C/C++. You can find a PDF manual for this version at www.bitsavers.org. I would strongly advise obtaining this manual. This takes a bit of a learning curve, but once you get used to it, you'll wonder how you did MS-DOS development without it. If you have two 720k floppy disks, the two EXE files included with this archive (for creating the disks) work very well. Otherwise, you can simply copy the files in the "Brief V3.1 Files" directory onto a single 1.44 MB floppy disk, or create a floppy disk image (i.e., using WinImage) which you can use for your virtual machine. 100% recommended. Thanks for posting.
