Installed perfectly on my Windows NT 4.0 PC. Nice peace of software, but I still personally prefer Office 98.

This is what you call a 'free' word. Nearly looks the same as word 97. The only difference is that its name is works, and it does work. The plus side is that this version does not ask for a 'Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5' like works 6.0 do (that means no updates B-). Also includes office document assistance.

It works perfectly. I extracted it easily with 7zip, then opened the msworks folder, then the folder called msworks.w95. Then I opened the folder DISK1, then double click on setup.exe. It's that simple. I don't understand how some commenters are having problems. It's so good it gave me flashbacks to when I was an office clerk in the 90's.

I really don't understand why people are using such old software on modern systems such as Windows XP/Vista. Use DOSBox, Virtual PC or VirtualBox for best results.

It worked with 7-Zip. If anybody is having trouble extracting the archive, use 7-Zip. I was also having a problem with printing under Windows XP, but under Windows NT, it worked fine.

Got as far as "Setup is looking for installed components", then it hangs. Even tried to set it up to run in Win 95 compatibility mode. No go.

This works perfectly. I downloaded and installed on my system with XP sp3. I don't know about the other utilities mentioned, but you can download Winrar free, and it will un-archive it with no problem (http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm). After it is unarchived, go to disk1, double-click on setup, it will automatically install from all 7 disk folders.

I downloaded MSWorks 4 Installer but needed a .rar file. Downloaded both jZip & 7-Zip but I get: "Setup cannot access the required initialization file: ....SETUP.LST. What's the point?

Was having trouble reading .WKS file. Couldn't find a free converter anywhere. Thankfully, this worked to read it, then just cut and pasted all the formulas into new version of Excel. Worked like a charm, thank you sooo much!

LOL, IE didnt want to download. Then only 100KB or so. Another try worked and viewing the RAR contents was OK. Perusing further than the funky readme..noticed SETUP.exe Opened README.HLP just fine, presume all else will be AOK too.
